On Saturday, Golesh explained that the report of him accepting the job with the Razorbacks was not true following USF's 52-3 win over Rice.
Golesh wanted to finish the regular season with the Bulls before deciding his future.

"When you have success in this profession, everyone tries to move you along," Golesh said, via YardBarker. "I get it, I understand it. I apologized to our guys on Wednesday night, I apologized to them again tonight, that the last thing I would ever want to be would be a distraction to our team."
"(The report) was nothing that I put out there," Golesh said. "It wasn't true. I told them that I didn't put it out and it wasn't true. And it wasn't true. I asked for some time after we win this game to process everything that's going on."
On Sunday morning, reports surfaced that Arkansas was set to hire Memphis head coach Ryan Silverfield, putting to rest the idea Golesh was headed to Fayetteville.
A few minutes later, On3 revealed Golesh was leaving USF for Arkansas' SEC rival, Auburn.

Golesh went 23-15 during his three seasons at South Florida. He signed a six-year deal with USF worth $15.3 million in 2022. The Bulls finished the regular season with a 9-3 record.
Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall had been linked to Auburn for a few weeks, but he fell out of contention for the job in recent days. Sumrall has been connected to Florida and Ole Miss amid a potential run in the College Football Playoff for the Green Wave.
Auburn fought No. 10 Alabama hard on Saturday night, but the Tigers fell to the Crimson Tide 27-20 to finish the season 5-7. Interim head coach D.J. Durkin was in the running for Auburn, but finished 1-2 with the interim tag after Hugh Freeze was fired on Nov. 2.
