The Ohio State Buckeyes may have a new donor for the program’s NIL fund.

Prior to the team’s Week 14 contest, Barstool Sports owner and longtime Michigan Wolverines fan Dave Portnoy made his usual appearance on FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff. And with his alma mater set to take on their heated rivals in the Buckeyes, it was safe to say the stakes were high for Portnoy on Saturday afternoon.

However, despite being underdogs heading into the contest, Portnoy juiced the stakes by making a bet with former Ohio State legendary head coach Urban Meyer before kickoff.

If the Buckeyes lost, Meyer would have to write a check to Michigan’s NIL fund, with Portnoy doing the same if the Wolverines lost the final game of the regular season.

Unfortunately for Portnoy, it looks like Ohio State’s NIL fund is set to land a nice donation after the Buckeyes managed to take down their rivals, 27-9.

After throwing an interception on the first drive, quarterback Julian Sayin would go on to complete 19 of his 26 attempts for 233 yards and three touchdowns. Sayin was able to find his footing early thanks to the help of star wide receiver Carnell Tate, who finished the game with five catches for 82 yards and one touchdown.

In addition to the excellent performance from Sayin and his wide receivers, Ohio State’s offense greatly benefited from freshman running back Bo Jackson. The Cleveland, OH native ended the contest with 22 carries for 117 yards on the ground, along with four catches for 46 yards in the air.

On defense, the Buckeyes were able to limit freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood to eight completions for a total of 63 yards and one interception. Forcing Michigan to rely on Underwood in the second half prevented the offense from focusing its attention on the ground game, which was effective in the first half.

Now, Ohio State is set to face the No. 2 Indiana Hoosiers in the Big Ten Conference Championship next Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium, with the winner presumably taking the top seed in the 2025 College Football Playoffs.
