First, head coach Steve Sarkisian landed his first commitment of the 2027 recruiting cycle Saturday morning, with blue-chip wide receiver Easton Royal announcing his decision to pick Texas over numerous Power 4 programs, including LSU, Ole Miss, Oregon, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M.
The 5-foot-11 star from Brother Martin H.S. (New Orleans, LA) is a five-star recruit according to both the Rivals Industry and 247Sports Composite rankings. He is ranked as the No. 1 wide receiver in his class by Rivals and holds 30 total offers, according to 247Sports. The Louisiana native finished his junior regular season at Brother Martin with 53 catches for 1,151 yards and 17 touchdowns, and is one of the fastest prospects in the cycle, running the 100 meters in 10.3 seconds as a sophomore.

Carlton had originally committed to Baylor on July 10, but changed his decision following multiple visits to Austin in recent weeks. The Temple H.S. (Temple, TX) standout is the No. 10 defensive line prospect in the country according to both the Rivals Industry and 247Sports Composite rankings, and now becomes the fifth EDGE/defensive line commit in Texas’ 2026 class.
With National Signing Day for the 2026 cycle under a week away, the Longhorns will look to continue to pursue targets for this year’s class while also building momentum toward future commitments.
