Lane Kiffin confronts reporter who called him a ‘hoe’: ‘I don’t even know your name’Story byAdam ZagoriaSat, November 29, 2025 at 4:13 PM UTC·3 min read

It’s been quite a week for Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin and it figures to get even more interesting on Saturday.

That’s when Kiffin said he will announce his future plans: basically either to remain at Ole Miss through the College Football Playoff and beyond, or to accept a reported 7-year, $98 million offer to take over at LSU.

In the leadup to No. 7 Ole Miss’ 38-19 victory over Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl on Friday, one Ole Miss writer referred to Kiffin, 50, as a “hoe.”

Kiffin, 50, then confronted the reporter, Ben Garrett of On3, as he walked off the field after the game, and the two met again in the post-game press conference.

During the week, Garrett said on on his Talk of Champions podcast covering Ole Miss football (via Awful Announcing), “can’t turn a hoe into a housewife; hoes don’t act right.” The reference had to do with Kiffin’s penchant for moving from one job to the next. Ole Miss is Kiffin’s sixth job since 2017, when he became the youngest head coach in modern NFL history with the Oakland Raiders.

Kiffin, understandably, did not like being referred to a “hoe,” and told Garrett as much as he walked off the field.

“You want to walk in here and call me a hoe?” Kiffin said when he confronted the reporter before walking off. “We’ll see how that goes.”

Garrett then posted about the incident, writing that Kiffin “sought [me] out in the tunnel after the game to tell me.”

The two crossed paths again in the post-game press conference.

“It’s not calling you a hoe, it’s about commitment, and that’s what really the question is,” Garrett said in the presser, adding, “You’re still not doing so [answering about your commitment plans], so you don’t think there’s anything wrong with getting upset about something so innocuous as that, especially after a win?”

Kiffin stared at Garrett and said, “I actually don’t even know your name.”

Garrett, 40, also addressed the matter in a YouTube video:

“No. 1, I didn’t call Lane Kiffin a hoe,” he said. “I used the metaphor...’You can’t turn a hoe into a housewife, hoes don’t act right.’ But it was more about the disloyalty of the last few weeks...”

He added of his post-game interaction with Kiffin: “Should I have emoted more, folks? Should I have fought Lane Kiffin?”

Garrett also addressed Kiffin in the video: “You want to prove me wrong? Stay.”

As for the big question, Kiffin indicated he would make an announcement on his plans on Saturday.

“I haven’t [made a decision],” Kiffin said. “Maybe that surprises you. I got to do some praying and figure this thing out. I can get to that tomorrow. I live life about one day at a time. Maybe that doesn’t help you, but I’ve learned to live that way for about six years now, five years. That helps me. Today is all about these players performing really well and keeping this Egg Bowl trophy where it belongs.”
