The Netflix series premiered on April 17, 2025, and was renewed later in June, with production getting underway in September. Still deep in production, the romance series has yet to announce a premiere date for Season 2; that should be revealed in due course, but in the meantime, a fan-favorite star has shocking news about a slight change to the new season.
While promoting her new Netflix movie, Champagne Problems, Minka Kelly, who portrays Quinn O'Grady in Ransom Canyon, confirmed that the upcoming season will comprise eight episodes, compared to Season 1's ten episodes. She shared while also teasing Season 2:
“We’re shooting it right now, so it’s been actually really fun and the season is really, really good. We’re all like, I think I like the season even better. It’s eight episodes now instead of ten, so they’ve really tightened up all the storylines. So it’s just jam-packed with so much. There’s a lot more levity this season too, which I love. The levity to break the tension, which I find is such a nice relief sometimes when it can be really heavy. We have some new characters this season that I think people are really going to love.”
When Will 'Ransom Canyon' Season 2 Wrap Filming?
In addition to Kelly's update, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham of New Mexico, where Ransom Canyon Season 2 is being filmed, shared further insights, including the scale of the project, its filming locations, and confirmation that the series aims to wrap up shooting in January 2026. She penned in a social media statement, "The production will employ more than 700 New Mexicans, including 380 crew members, 40 principal actors, and 300 background talent. Stars Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly, who both grew up in Albuquerque, reunite for season 2, and filming will take place across Albuquerque, Las Vegas, Nambé, Santa Ana, Santa Domingo, and Santa Fe through January."
Ransom Canyon is streaming on Netflix. Stick with Collider for the Western show's Season 2 premiere date.
