The Philadelphia Phillies have numerous players who could be on the trade block this offseason, and while Alec Bohm and Nick Castellanos are the most commonly mentioned names, the Phillies' trade candidates are certainly not limited to them.

Todd Zolecki of MLB.com has revealed that Philadelphia could even consider a trade of infielder Bryson Stott, a former top prospect who has not quite materialized in the City of Brotherly Love.

Stott slashed .257/.328/.391 with 13 home runs and 66 RBI over 560 plate appearances this past season while also stealing 24 bases.

The 28-year-old was originally selected by the Phillies with the 14th overall pick of the 2019 MLB Draft and eventually reached the big leagues in 2022, when he slashed .234/.295/.358 with 10 homers and 49 RBI across 466 trips to the dish.

Stott then enjoyed arguably his best season to date in 2023, slashing .280/.329/.419 with 15 long balls and 62 RBI through 640 plate appearances while also swiping 32 bags.

The UNLV product then took a major step back in 2024, registering a .671 OPS before seeing his progression stall this past year.

On the bright side, Stott is a very good defensive second baseman. While he may never replicate what he achieved in 2023 when he posted a plus-7 DRS and plus-16 OAA, he has remained above average at the position, which makes his pedestrian offense tolerable.

However, for a Phillies team that needs to shake things up and could use some more depth in its lineup, you can understand why Stott could be had in a potential trade.

Philadelphia also has to worry about re-signing Kyle Schwarber and potentially J.T. Realmuto in free agency. The Phillies seem resigned to the fact that Ranger Suarez is a goner, and if they retain Schwarber, their payroll restrictions may prevent them from making any other expensive additions.

Philly won 96 games this past season, but was eliminated from the NLDS for the second straight year. Changes are definitely needed, and almost no one on the roster is safe. We even heard Bryce Harper's name floated in trade speculation, so it would not be the least bit surprising if Stott does get dealt.
