As a multihyphenated artist, Greta Gerwig has given us many meaningful movies. She especially shines as a director, giving us titles like Barbie, which took the world by storm upon its release and became a phenomenon. Her world-building, characters, and ability to address larger themes effortlessly are staples of her moviemaking, and fans can’t wait for her next feature, Narnia. So, while we wait for the supernatural fantasy, Netflix just made one of her best movies more accessible.

Little Women will debut on Netflix starting December 1, ComicBook reports. Dubbed one of the best book-to-screen adaptations, the movie follows the lives of the March sisters, Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy, as they navigate love and loss, and struggle to make a career in the 19th century. It’s a brilliant coming-of-age movie that touches upon the themes of ambition and sacrifice, while encapsulating a woman’s journey through various stages of life.

Written and directed by Gerwig, the film was a major box office success, earning $220 million worldwide. It has a 95% Rotten Tomatoes rating from the critics and a 92% from the audience. Little Women features a brilliant cast, including Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, Laura Dern, Timothée Chalamet, Tracy Letts, Bob Odenkirk, James Norton, Louis Garrel, Chris Cooper, and Meryl Streep.

What Do We Know About Greta Gerwig’s ‘Narnia’?

After Barbie, Gerwig has set her eyes on C.S. Lewis’ iconic The Chronicles of Narnia fantasy novels. Reportedly, she is adapting The Magician's Nephew, with a great cast in tow and an IMAX release in its future. The movie will reunite her with Barbie actor Emma Mackey, set to play Jadis, the White Witch. Mackey previously teased her experience on set but wasn't able to offer specific details. She revealed:

"Well, there's zilch I can tell you about it other than it's a wonderful, wonderful process so far, and it's an adventure. And Greta is someone that I have immense respect for, and who's a friend and a life force. And I'm just very fortunate to be on one of her sets. Truly."

The movie also stars Daniel Craig as the eccentric Uncle Andrew, Carey Mulligan as Digory's mother, Mabel Kirke, Meryl Streep as the voice of Aslan, as well as David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell as Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer.

Little Women arrives on Netflix on December 1, while Narnia is currently filming. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates on the upcoming feature.
