More reinforcements may be on the way for the Dallas Cowboys. In an interview with 105.3 The Fan, team owner Jerry Jones predicted star cornerback Trevon Diggs will be back in Week 14 to take on the Detroit Lions. Diggs has had a season for forget in 2026, posting just 18 tackles with zero passes defensed and zero interceptions in six games played.

His lackluster campaign culminated with a trip to the IR following a mysterious home accident. Injuries have reduced Diggs to just 17 starts since the 2022 season. His lack of availability and diminished capacity had led many to believe Diggs had already played his last snap for the Cowboys, but recent comments by Jones indicate talk like that is premature.

“He’ll be on the field,” Jones said of Diggs. “Could have been on the field, wanted to be on the field (on Thanksgiving), but he’ll be on the field at Detroit, in my view, barring the unexpected.”

The first step in getting Diggs back into the fold is opening his 21-day practice window. Given Jones’ confidence it seems as if a slow ramp-up won’t be needed. Diggs has been working out on the sideline with other players on IR so it’s safe to say the team has a pretty good bead on his readiness.

While the heralded ballhawk has yet to regain his All-Pro form that earned him a $97 million extension prior to the 2023 season, his return should be a welcomed sight at a position group that has suffered its share of injuries. Starters DaRon Bland and Shevon Revel both exited the field for a period of time in Week 13. It forced the Cowboys to dig deeper into the well than they’d probably like to, making Diggs’ return, even if only for depth purposes, a welcomed sight.

In addition, Diggs' return means media availability, which could mean the two-month mystery surrounding his concussion will finally be answered, for better or worse.

A team can never have too many defensive backs so getting a starting caliber cornerback like Diggs back is a very good thing this week.
