Lane Kiffin says MSU fans broke into locker room, stole QB's jersey ahead of Egg Bowl

It appears some folks in Mississippi took a wrong turn to do their Black Friday shopping.

According to Mississippi coach Lane Kiffin, some Mississippi State fans broke into the Rebels locker room and stole quarterback Trinidad Chambliss' jersey ahead of the Egg Bowl, Kiffin told the SEC Network on Nov. 28.

Kiffin said they knew what had happened because there were cameras that captured the caper in the Davis Wade Stadium locker room.

There is a lot on the line in this game for Mississippi, which is looking to earn its 11th win of the season and likely punch a ticket to the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history. There is also, of course, the elephant in the room of Kiffin's future with the Rebels. Without video evidence, there's a non-zero chance he's looking to talk about anything but that.

This is hardly the first time some shenanigans have been afoot ahead of the Egg Bowl. While it doesn't rise to the level of vitriol of 1926 when Mississippi State fans defended their goalposts from field rushing Mississippi fans with wooden chairs, it's more analogous to a Cold War where Mississippi State planned a heist and Mississippi had counterintelligence.

Despite Bulldog fans' best efforts, Chambliss will be on the field, likely in his No. 6 jersey, for Mississippi. The Bulldogs (5-6, 1-6 SEC) will be looking to play spoiler akin to 1970, when an unranked MSU defeated No. 10 Mississippi to give Charles Shira his only winning season.
