Bloodborne is easily one of the most popular IPs from developer FromSoftware, with remaster/remake and sequel hopes always lingering in the back of players' minds. To fan's surprise and dismay, an official remaster of Bloodborne has never been announced, but the next-best thing might be available now in the form of a fan-created mod.

A new Nexus Mod from Specialfist94 for Bloodborne introduces a "ReShade" feature that effectively overhauls the visual and graphic quality and fidelity to give players an experience similar to the official remake of Demon's Souls. The mod introduces more dynamic lighting and removes "the grey, washed out colours of the vanilla game" and gives players the "full intended definitive Bloodborne experience."

Bloodborne Remastered Is Real... But Unofficial

The Bloodborne Remake mod is the closest thing players are going to get to an official remaster at the moment, largely because no plans have been announced for the real deal. After the release of the Demon's Souls remake in 2020, gamers had high hopes that Bloodborne was next in the queue, but five years later there's still no word about an official remaster of the beloved and iconic Soulsborne game.

The remaster mod will introduce a modern visual and graphic experience to Bloodborne for PC players at least, though console players will have to continue to be patient. This mod is fundamentally focused on capturing the essence and "feel" of Bloodborne, i.e., delivering the ambiance and atmosphere from the original in a higher-fidelity package. Primarily, the mod tweaks lighting and fog effects to achieve this, where "darks should be darker, lights should illuminate more, and fires should feel warmer."

While the fan-created Bloodborne remaster mod isn't official, it's absolutely worth checking out if you're a PC user, available to download now. It's a quintessential download for hardcore Souls fans, and will completely change the way you experience one of the best Soulsborne games ever made. This is the perfect mod to occupy your time while you wait for an actual announcement of a Bloodborne remake or remaster, or if hell freezes over and we finally get the Bloodborne sequel that everyone wants.

Ultimately, Bloodborne is the most unique and original Souls game that has ever been released, showcasing FromSoft's incredible creative vision and delivering an unmatched original world. Bloodborne absolutely deserves a sequel and a remake, and there are very few gamers who would disagree with that statement. Whether we will ever receive an official sequel announcement for Bloodborne is unclear, and while an official remake/remaster of the original seems more likely to come first, this fan-created mod is easily the next-best thing.
