City are aiming to maintain our strong start to this season’s competition, currently sitting third in the 36-team league phase.

Asked about the fitness of his squad, Guardiola said that neither Rodri or Kovacic are available to face the German club and gave an update on the Spaniard’s fitness.

“Everybody [else is available] for tomorrow,” he said.

“Not long [for Rodri tomorrow]. Not sure but not long. In the process and timing on when he will be back. We will wait a little more to make sure he is fine.”

City go into the next game on the back of a narrow defeat against Newcastle and Guardiola says we have to put the defeat behind us quickly.

Leverkusen currently sit third in the Bundesliga table after winning their last three matches in Germany including a 3-1 win over Wolfsburg at the weekend.

But after 10 points from our first form games in Europe, the City boss wants to maintain our form to finish in the top-eight and avoid a play-off game to reach the round of 16.

“It’s immediately forgotten,” the boss added about the Newcastle game. “That night, a little thought about what happened.

“It’s massively important the group stage, we have made incredibly good four games, even against Monaco away we played outstanding.

“Now we start the last four games, two at home two away, tomorrow against third in the table in the Bundesliga table.

“A massively important game to finish where we want to finish in the first eight.

“Win tomorrow and one more point and we qualify for the next round in front of the 24 teams. Tomorrow is important and we focus on what we have to do.”
