Frank Ragnow is coming back from retirement to play the rest of the season.

Ragnow retired originally in June, stepping away from football for what he called health reasons.

Now he's back for what reports indicate is simply a love of the game.

Ragnow is a four-time Pro Bowl center and one of the best players in recent Lions history. So his return is massive news.

Is Frank Ragnow playing today on Thanksgiving?

The one bummer is that Ragnow is not playing on Thanksgiving Day.

He only officially was activated off the Reserve/Retired list on Wednesday.

The Lions play a week from Thursday against the Cowboys, and then on Dec. 14 against the Rams. Those are the two possible return dates for Ragnow.

He had to be activated by Wednesday, a day before his team's Week 13 game, to be eligible to play this season.

Now activated, Ragnow is allowed to miss up to two games while not counting against the active roster before coming back.

That makes the Rams game seem most likely, but if Ragnow is ahead of schedule, he could be back for next week's Thursday Night Football.
