The final week of the 2025 regular-season is upon us, with critical games with College Football Playoff implications lining the Friday and Saturday schedule in college football.
Most important of all for the Oregon Ducks is obviously their matchup in Seattle against the rival Washington Huskies, who they must beat in order to control their own destiny as far as staying in the CFP. But just where they'll be seeded will be based on a variety of the games being played this weekend.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementTeams both ahead and behind the Ducks, who are currently ranked No. 6, have difficult matchups, potentially impacting where Oregon will land based on the outcome of those games. The scenarios are endless; but we're here to break down each of the five games this weekend that will have the biggest impact on the Ducks.
Oregon fans: tune in for the Ducks' bout with the Huskies at 12:30 p.m. PST on Saturday, but also be tuned into these games throughout Friday and Saturday as the outcomes could greatly affect your team.
No. 7 Ole Miss vs. Mississippi State
When: Friday, 9:00 a.m. PST
Where: Davis Wade Stadium | | Starkville, MS

Why it could matter: The Ducks jumped the Rebels in the recent CFP rankings reveal, despite Ole Miss being on a bye. While that's a sign of the respect that the Playoff Committee has for Oregon's win over the 15th-ranked USC Trojans, it also opens the door for style points to come into play. If Ole Miss blows the doors off in-state rival Mississippi State on the road and Oregon struggles against Washington, potentially coming away with an unconvincing one-possession win, there's certainly a case to be made that the Rebels could leap over the Ducks. That would be a massive deal, as it'd be the difference between playing either the ACC champion or Group of Six representative or potentially Alabama. A Rebels loss would be great, but the Bulldogs keeping it close would be impactful as well.
No. 4 Georgia vs. No. 23 Georgia Tech
When: Friday, 12:30 p.m. PST

TV: ABC
Why it could matter: Unlikely to make the SEC championship, as it would require either Texas A&M or Alabama to lose, with a win over ranked Georgia Tech, Georgia could cement itself as a top four seed. With the Ducks within striking distance of just that, fans should be rooting for the Yellow Jackets to pull off the upset here. And they have the ability to do so with quarterback Haynes King leading the way, who is one of the most electric and entertaining players in the country to watch.
No. 3 Texas A&M vs. No. 16 Texas
When: Friday, 4:30 p.m. PST

TV: ABC
Why it could matter: As an undefeated team, there's an argument to be made that it could benefit Oregon more if the Aggies win this game. Keeping them near the top of the rankings would leave more space for the Ducks to operate in their one-loss territory. But with quarterback Arch Manning and a stout defense, the Longhorns have more than enough talent to pull off the upset at home. If they don't, Texas A&M has a real chance to claim a top four seed and a bye in the CFP even if they lose in the SEC title game.
No. 1 Ohio State vs. No. 15 Michigan
When: Saturday, 9:00 a.m. PST
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementWhere: Michigan Stadium | | Ann Arbor, MI
TV: FOX
Why it could matter: This one is full of scenarios for the Ducks. The first one: if Michigan manages to beat Ohio State for the fifth year in a row, Oregon would have a spot in the Big Ten title game against Indiana. That would also create a chaotic situation in which the Wolverines would have two losses and the best win in the country over the No. 1 Buckeyes, giving themselves a very good case to make the CFP. While that would cloud the bottom of the CFP seeds, the Ducks would have a chance to secure a first-round bye with a victory over the Hoosiers — or suffer a second loss and run the risk of it potentially hurting their resume. Rooting for the safe route means rooting for an Ohio State win, knocking Michigan out and likely leaving the Ducks with a home game at Autzen Stadium for the first round.
LSU vs. No. 8 Oklahoma
When: Saturday, 12:30 p.m. PST

TV: ABC
Why it could matter: In the case of a Ducks loss to the Huskies, the Sooners suffering their third loss would go a long way towards Oregon remaining in the 12-team field. If the Ducks take care of business, this game won't hold a ton of weight. Regardless, Oklahoma has four ranked wins and one of the best defenses in the country; rooting for them to be out of playoff with a loss to LSU could make way for a lesser team to take their spot, benefitting the Ducks.
