The Green Bay Packers have bounced back and forth at kicker this season.

It's a position that flies under the radar until it matters. And when the Green Bay Packers take on the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving, it'll very much matter.
So that could end up inviting scrutiny on the choice the Packers made this week, when they cut Havrisik and kept McManus as their lone kicker.

Why did the Packers cut Lucas Havrisik and keep Brandon McManus?
In the end, Green Bay chose to stick with the veteran who entered the year as their kicker.,
There was a case to be made in the other direction.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementHavrisik is 4-for-4 on field goals and 6-for-6 on extra points this year. He made a 61-yard FG, too.
McManus has missed three of his last seven field goal attempts.

The Packers specifically sought out McManus, though, and so they've decided not to get rid of him.
McManus missed time with a leg injury, so Green Bay likely hopes that he'll be fine as he gets healthier.
But if the Packers miss a kick, there'll certainly be questions asked about why Havrisik wasn't the guy who got to stick around.
