Jahmyr Gibbs has put up some historic numbers lately.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementDavid Montgomery, in comparison, has felt a lot like a bystander for the Detroit Lions as the younger, more explosive RB has gone off.
It's a confusing situation, to be sure. Fantasy football managers aren't quite sure what to do with Monty.

Why is Jahmyr Gibbs playing more than David Montgomery?
Yes, it's true that Gibbs is on the field more than Montgomery.
This isn't actually new, though.
Monty has only had two games all year in which he got at least half the offensive snaps.

He's usually between 30 and 40 percent, which is where he resided each of the last two weeks even with quiet games and big outings for Gibbs.
The Lions haven't actually changed their plans. Gibbs is just exploding, and each time he has a long touchdown, it stops Montgomery from getting a chance to cash it in.
Monty's fantasy value shouldn't be any different than it was a few weeks ago, even if that's hard to believe. He's getting the same chances he's always gotten.
