Anticipation for Zootopia 2 is high. Zootopia is set in a world where humans don't exist and quirky anthropomorphic animals take on everyday roles, such as a ram working as a chemist and a sloth employed at the DMV.
The movie follows Judy Hopps, a rabbit recruited into the Zootopia Police Department. After she joins forces with the rogue con artist fox Nick Wilde, they uncover a government conspiracy that runs deep through the city.
The first Zootopia is a masterclass in world-building, as its titular metropolis is rich with detail, with several suburbs and locales of the city having their own distinct flare. Given its box office success, it was surprising that it took seven years for the announcement of a sequel.
Zootopia 2 will pick up the story once more and take viewers back to Zootopia and the world of Judy and Nick. However, many details remain unknown, and large parts of Zootopia remain an intriguing mystery.

The Sequel Has Arrived

Announced amid a slew of other major releases in February 2024, Disney confirmed that their long-awaited Zootopia sequel arrives on November 26th, 2025. Since the first was a certified box-office smash, Disney is likely trying to capitalize on the typical Thanksgiving holiday bump to bolster its opening numbers.
A TV show, Zootopia+, debuted on Disney+ on November 9, 2022.

Ginnifer Goodwin Returns As Judy Hopps
In the first Zootopia, Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde were played by Ginnifer Goodwin (Big Love) and Jason Bateman (Arrested Development), and they'll both return for the cast of Zootopia 2.
There were a slew of beloved supporting characters in the first film, and Disney slyly revealed at D23 in 2024 that Mr. Big, Clawhauser, and Flash the Sloth will all be back in the sequel. Another return is that of singer Shakira, who is set to reprise her role as Zootopia pop star, Gazelle, in the sequel.
A new confirmed character is Gary the Snake, a wanted reptile who is voiced by Oscar-winner Ke Huy Quan. Comedian and actor Fortune Feimster has also joined the sequel as Nibbles, a beaver who Judy and Nick meet during their investigation.

There are still so many other actors and characters to note, though the level of how important their roles are is unclear. For example, Dwayne Johnson voices Zeke, an accident-prone dik-dik, while fellow WWE wrestlers CM Punk and Roman Reigns voice a pair of zebra cops.

A New Mystery For Officers Hopps & Wilde
At the very end of Zootopia, Nick, who was once a two-bit con artist, graduates from the police academy and becomes Judy's partner, hinting at many buddy-cop adventures to come. Zootopia 2 picks up a few weeks later and the official synopsis lays out a bit of the plot.
Judy and Nick find themselves on the twisting trail of a mysterious reptile who arrives in Zootopia and turns the mammal metropolis upside down. To crack the case, Judy and Nick must go undercover to unexpected new parts of town, where their growing partnership is tested like never before.
