Campbell sustained a knee sprain and was carted to the locker room in the third quarter of a 26-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday in Cincinnati.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementVrabel said Monday that he expected Campbell to miss more than a "week or two." He is now required to miss at least four games due to his placement on injured reserve.
Campbell, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, started 12 games through the first 12 weeks of his rookie campaign. Vederian Lowe will fill in at left tackle during his hiatus.
Marcus Bryant and Thayer Munford Jr., are among the Patriots' backup offensive tackles.
Pro Football Focus gave Campbell the 18th-best offensive rating among offensive tackles who were in for at least 80% of the maximum snaps played at the position this season. He ranked 11th as a pass blocker and 22nd as a run blocker among qualifying players. He is the second-highest rated rookie offensive linemen, behind tackle Armand Membou of the New York Jets.

On Tuesday, the Patriots signed Munford, put cornerback Alex Austin on injured reserve and signed guard Bill Murray to their practice squad. They also released running back Jonathan Ward from their practice squad.
The Patriots (10-2) will host the New York Giants (2-10) at 8:15 p.m. EST Monday in Foxborough, Mass.
