UAB is searching for its next football head coach. Former Vol and UAB director of athletics Mark Ingram parted ways with head coach Trent Dilfer on Oct. 12 after 30 games from 2023-25.

According to John Brice of Football Scoop, former Vol and SMU offensive coordinator and tight ends coach Casey Woods is a "target of interest" to fill the Blazers' vacancy.

"In an ongoing search that was initiated after Dilfer's dismissal on October 12 and that has spanned both the FBS and FCS ranks, Casey Woods has emerged as a target of interest for the Blazers, who are using Drew Turner's CSA search and consulting to spearhead the process that also is under the purview of UAB Athletics DIrector Mark Ingram and school president Ray Watts," Brice said.

Woods was a graduate assistant at Tennessee in 2008 and played for the Vols from 2003-07 as a wide receiver and holder.

Ingram played long snapper for the Vols from 1995-96.

He completed a master’s degree in sports administration at Tennessee in 1997. He joined the Vols’ athletics department in 1998, serving as an assistant director of development.
