It was revealed yesterday that Team Canada has eyes on Scott Wedgewood and has added him to a long list of players they are considering bringing to Italy for the 2026 Winter Olympics, according to Pierre LeBrun of TSN and The Athletic.
Team Canada’s roster is one of the most challenging tasks to finalize, as the amount of Canadian talent in the NHL makes it challenging to decide who to take and who to leave off. However, in the goaltending situation, Wedgewood has made it difficult for the committee to leave him off the roster, given how well he has been playing.

Seventeen games in with a 13-1-2 record, he is on pace to break his career high records he set with the 2023-24 Dallas Stars, where he finished the season with a record of 28-16-7 with 32 games started.
I wrote about the Avalanche and who were “locks” to make the Olympic roster, and there was an easy player to determine. Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, and Martin Necas were easy examples, but I left Wedgewood off because, besides the play on ice and the stats to back it up, I felt he wasn’t an “easy” pick given his history with Team Canada. Look at the 4 Nations Face-Off: they left Logan Thompson off the roster last season, even though he had better stats than all the other goaltenders they took. Now it's clear there is no chance they leave him in Denver come February.

He got almost every single game to start the season and has locked himself as the number one starter, even when Blackwood made his return to the team.
He has spoken about his interest in playing for Team Canada, as everyone does for their country. Being able to represent it on the highest level their is, is an opportunity that doesnt come very often if not at all, for man,y and him capitalizing on the best play of his career is the best way to show not only Team Canada but all Canadians that they can trust you when it comes to big moments to help your country win a medal.
