A big change could be coming to college hoops. On Wednesday, the Division I Men’s and Women’s Basketball Oversight Committees proposed that the notification-of-transfer windows open for 15 days starting after the conclusion of the 2026 Men’s and Women’s Final Fours.
According to a press release from the NCAA, the recommendations must be approved by the Division I Cabinet, which is scheduled to review the proposals in January. If the change is approved, the legislation would go into effect in April of 2026.

At the moment, the transfer windows open after the conclusion of the second round of the Division I Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships and stay open for 30 days. It seems change could be coming though.
