By Alyce CollinsShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberInternet users can’t get enough of the adorable friendship between a rottweiler and a barn cat who have become inseparable.
TikTok user Laken Ruth (@lakenruthrealtor) from Kentucky has melted plenty of hearts after sharing the precious video of her dog, Bristol, and her barn cat bestie. The video shows Bristol the rottweiler cuddling up to the tiny cat, allowing her to climb all over her body, and lying beside one another in the sun.
Bristol may be much larger than the cat, but she is still so gentle and loving towards her. Indeed, they’re so close that it now seems as though Bristol has “adopted a cat” because they’re constantly by each other’s side.
Their unlikely friendship has certainly taken the internet by storm, and in just a matter of days the clip has gone viral with over 863,700 views and more than 185,800 likes at the time of writing.
...Newsweek has contacted @lakenruthrealtor via TikTok for comment. We could not verify the details of the video.
During the clip, Bristol’s owner explained that they have plenty of barn cats roaming their land, but this one is extra special to Bristol, calling it “one of the cutest little friendships I’ve ever seen.”
“She’ll literally open the door to the porch to let this cat come in and love on her,” Ruth continued.
As for the barn cat, she isn’t too fond of humans or the other dog on the property – but there’s no doubting her affection for Bristol. So strong is their bond, Bristol will even share her food with the barn cat, and now her owner says, “you don’t see one without the other.”
Female rottweilers can reach a weight of up to 100 pounds (135lbs for males), but don’t be fooled by their powerful physiques. As explained by The American Kennel Club, rottweilers are typically very gentle playmates who love to protect their family circle. The breed is known for being highly affectionate, playful, and exceptional watchdogs.

While one commenter added: “She mom’d too hard with this one! What a perfect pair of BFFs.”
