The fall season officially comes to a close this week with the playing of Thanksgiving football games, so it's time to take a look back and highlight Gardner-area athletes who shined for their teams.

Girls soccer teams in the area found plenty of success. Several teams qualified for playoffs and had other big moments throughout the season.

Here are the nominees for The Gardner News Girls Soccer Player of the Year. Readers can vote in the poll and results will be combined with staff votes to determine the winner.

Sophia Basil, Narragansett

Basil was one of Narragansett's senior captains. She was a strong defender for the Warriors and was a reliable leader on and off the field, supporting teammates with both soccer-related and academic endeavors.

Addison Boudreau, Monty Tech

Boudreau was Monty Tech's leading scorer as just a freshman. She tallied 23 goals and 11 assists and was seventh overall in Central Mass. and second in CMAC E on the scoring leaderboard.

Francesca Collaro, Narragansett

Collaro was a captain and leading scorer for the Warriors this season, despite being out and having to cut back on playing time due to an injury.

Abi Falconi, Quabbin

Falconi had a strong senior season for Quabbin, finishing with 9 goals and 5 assists for a total of 14 points.

Alli Fitzsimmons, Gardner

Fitzsimmons was a key leader for the Wildcats. As a midfielder, she finished with 5 goals and 9 assists and was named both a Mid-Wach D and Central Mass. all-star. She also played the most minutes of players in her position, further proving her impact on the field.

Kendall Gamache, Gardner

Gamache was an offensive threat for Gardner this season. She totaled 9 goals and 7 assists and was named an all-star on three levels: Mid-Wach D league, Central Mass and All-State.

Mikaela Groncki, Oakmont

Groncki was a senior captain and key leader for Oakmont. She anchored the defense and helped the Spartans in some key wins throughout the season.

Aubrey Hamel, Narragansett

Hamel was Narragansett's most-improved player throughout the season and continued to show up for the team in a difficult season for the Warriors.

Allie Lipiec, Quabbin

Lipiec was the team's leading scorer with 14 goals and 4 assists. Her points total landed her at second in Mid-Wach D.

Jillian McCaie, Monty Tech

McCaie was the Bulldogs' second leading scorer, finishing with 17 goals and 5 assists. She landed at fourth in the league on the scoring leaderboard.

Makayla Small, Monty Tech

Small led as a senior captain this season for the Bulldogs. She had 9 goals and 11 assists for a total of 20 points.
