By Kate PlummerShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberU.S. Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Mike Walz has said "we're going to clean house" in terms of UN spending.
In a video posted to X on Tuesday, Waltz lauded the cuts the Trump administration has pushed for in terms of global peacekeeping, the UN's budget and called for greater reform at the international organization.
“Yeah, look, the President has made it clear the UN has a lot of potential,” he said while walking with Ambassador Jeff Bartos, the U.S. representative for UN management and reform.
“We can’t throw the baby out with the bathwaters, but we have to reform, and we have to clean house. We have to make this place work better.”
"It can't be so bloated and bureaucratic," he added. "We're going to clean house and President Trump is going to lead the way."
