We are now getting deeper into the MLB offseason, and while nothing big has happened in the Bronx just yet, you can feel the wheels churning for the New York Yankees.

Whether it's Cody Bellinger's free agency or Hal Steinbrenner making some comments that raised some hairs, there is a whole lot to talk about when it comes to baseball in New York.

The Yankees just lost to the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALDS, so significant moves are expected for the squad, although whether or not Steinbrenner is actually willing to spend the money Yanks fans desire remains to be seen.

Matthew Schmidt and Jon Conahan break it all down in the newest episode of the Yankees Roundtable podcast.

The topics are as follows:

  • Steinbrenner recently said that it wouldn't be fair to say that the Yankees turned a profit in 2025 and also kind of skirted around the issue of the payroll, stating that while he would prefer to decrease it, it doesn't mean that will actually happen. How much should we actually read into Steinbrenner's comments? Is there really anything here? Or is this classic owner speak?

  • Corey Seager and Fernando Tatis Jr. are two names that have surfaced as potential trade targets for the Yankees, and while Seager may now be out of the question following the Texas Rangers' decision to trade Marcus Semien, it's still worth discussing. Tatis was floated as a possibility by Michael Kay because the San Diego Padres are considering selling the team, but he would surely cost a fortune. Could New York pull off a shocking trade for either star player?

  • The Yankees would probably like to re-sign Devin Williams, but with Raisel Iglesias just landing a one-year, $16 million contract from the Atlanta Braves, Williams may have just gotten priced out o New York's range. Is there any chance the Yanks bring Williams back? Or is he as good as gone?

  • The Mets decided to trade outfielder Brandon Nimmo for Semien, which feels like a move to make some room for Bellinger. The Mets have widely been viewed as a potential landing spot for Bellinger if he bolts the Bronx, and with Steve Cohen having some of the deepest pockets in baseball, he may be willing to outbid the Yankees for the former NL MVP. Will this be some Juan Soto deja vu for the Yanks?

  • Given Steinbrenner likely putting Brian Cashman on some sort of strict spending budget this winter, what moves will the Yankees actually make? Will they spend big in free agency? Or will they supplement their roster via shrewd trades rather than splashy signings?

All that and more in the latest episode of the Yankees Roundtable podcast.
