NAPPANEE — NorthWood High School announced on Monday that Mark Mikel has stepped down from his role as boys track coach, a position he has held since 2022.
According to a release from the school, Mikel will continue to lead the girls cross country and girls track programs, where he has built a legacy of excellence, continuity, and care for student-athletes.

His long-standing dedication has shaped countless athletes and contributed significantly to the growth and success of the school’s running programs.
Coach Mikel has spent nearly three decades investing in NorthWood student-athletes,” athletic director AJ Risedorph said. “His commitment, consistency, and leadership have been foundational for our cross country and track programs.
“While we are grateful for his service to the boys track team, we are equally excited to see him continue guiding our girls programs moving forward.”
NorthWood will begin the search for the next boys track coach immediately.
