Michigan State basketball is down in Florida for a pair of games in the Fort Myers Tip-Off, with the first coming against East Carolina. The Spartans dominated the afternoon contest against the Pirates, 89-56.

The game was only tied once, at 9-9, and Michigan State had the lead for the rest of the contest, flexing their muscles early and often.

Defense and rebounding was on full display for the Spartans, forcing ECU to shoot just 33-percent from the field, while forcing 24 turnovers, getting 13 steals and 8 blocks in the game. The Spartans won the rebounding battle, 38-34.

Having his best game in a Spartan uniform, Divine Ugochukwu went off in this contest, scoring a career high 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting.

Other Spartans standing out, Jaxon Kohler was perfect on the night, scoring 16 points on 6-of-6 shooting and adding 8 rebounds. Coen Carr added 13 points, while Carson Cooper had 10 points and 8 rebounds.

A cool note at the end of the game, walk-on Brennan Walton scored his first career points with a nice two-point jumper.

Michigan State will play their second matchup in Fort Myers on Thanksgiving against North Carolina at 4:30 p.m. ET.
