My Happy Marriage fans have something big to celebrate, as Kadokawa has officially confirmed a surprise return for Netflix's #1 anime of 2023. Following the success of its second season earlier this year, the franchise is set to return in 2026.
As fans may recall, after My Happy Marriage Season 2 ended, the series announced that a new anime was in the works. While many assumed the announcement was about a third season, Netflix is seemingly set to treat fans with a three-episode special.
Netflix's My Happy Marriage Set to Release a Three-Episode Special
On Saturday, November 22, Kadokawa announced that My Happy Marriage is set to receive a three-episode special in 2026.
It was previously announced that a new anime was in production for the series. However, it was not until Saturday that Kadokawa and Netflix Anime confirmed that the anime was going to be a special and not the third season.
The three-episode special will air on television in Japan and will also stream on Netflix worldwide.
This announcement was made with a special visual featuring protagonists Miyo Saimori and Kiyoka Kudou. Miyo can be seen wearing a white bridal kimono with red accents. Meanwhile, Kiyoka can be seen wearing his military uniform. Both characters are standing beneath blooming cherry blossoms, as Kiyoka can be seen holding an umbrella for Miyo.
What is My Happy Marriage Anime About?

My Happy Marriage anime follows the story of Miyo Saimori. Born from an arranged marriage, Miyo was quickly discarded by her father following her mother's death. However, Miyo's misery didn't end just there, as after her father remarried, her new younger half-sister Kaya received all the affection, while her stepmother abused her and treated her like a servant.
Slowly, Miyo started losing all hope that luck would turn her way. That's when her father informed her about a surprising arrangement. Miyo's final hope of living a happy life was in marriage. However, to her surprise, her father had arranged her marriage to Kiyoka Kudou, a commander infamously known for being so cold that all his former fiancées fled within three days of engagement.
As such, Miyo expected a similar harsh treatment and resigned herself to her fate. But, to her surprise, Kiyoka was anything but like the rumors painted him to be. With that, Miyo and Kiyoka slowly began to open their hearts to each other, both realizing that the other may be their chance at finding true love and happiness.
