There are very few RPGs out there that can immerse players in their worlds the same way popular, time-tested titles like Fable or The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt do, but a newly released open-world role-playing adventure from Fire & Frost studios aims to do just that.
Of Ash and Steel is a brand-new, open-world action RPG for PC with immersive third-person gameplay that is available now on Steam. The new RPG places players in the role of Tristan, a warrior in the Kingdom of the Seven, and allows for versatile playstyles and a reactive narrative experience where your decisions impact story events.
Of Ash And Steel Is A New Open-World RPG
Of Ash and Steel is a new third-person open-world RPG from Fire & Frost studios that is exclusive for PC at the moment and available on Steam at a 20% discount for the time being. The game currently has hundreds of positive reviews, despite being out for only hours at the time of this writing.
Of Ash and Steel is a Witcher-like game with classic RPG elements and a massive, explorable open world. The game will feature the following essential elements:
- A massive story with 45+ hours of content, including "well-developed characters, books, and side quests"
- A faction system featuring two major factions with unique storylines, quests, and rewards
- A distinctive combat system with three battle stances featuring various weapons and skills
- A "vibrant, open-world island with diverse biomes to explore"
- A range of options for professions, such as fishing, hunting, alchemy, blacksmithing, etc.
The combat in Of Ash and Steel operates around a timing-based parrying and blocking mechanic, as well as a deep progression system that encourages multiple playthroughs and enables a wide range of playstyles.
It Has A Touch Of The Witcher To It
There's no denying Of Ash and Steel has some serious Witcher 3 and Fable vibes to it, especially in terms of third-person open-world gameplay and combat. It's a must-try for fans of either franchise, but especially those who enjoy the exploration and versatility in gameplay styles that comes with The Witcher 3.
Fire & Frost Studios claims they are "a passionate team that values the essence of classic old-school RPGs and modern design," and Of Ash and Steel promises to give players an authentic RPG experience and a compelling story set in a reactive world. If you're looking for a new Witcher-esque RPG to dive into, Of Ash and Steel is available now on PC and Steam.
