Arne Slot reveals Liverpool defender is ‘not completely fit’ in another blow for Reds

Arne Slot says Liverpool defender Joe Gomez is struggling with a knee problem.

The Liverpool boss has been left light on defensive options with Jeremie Frimpong, Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni all currently sidelined through injuries.

And the Liverpool boss says Gomez had an injection in his knee last week, with the defender continuing to face fitness problems.

“He’s one of the five defenders we have,” Slot said.

“Normally I wouldn’t go into details that much but he had an injection last week in his knee so normally that’s not because you’re not feeling anything.

“So apart from me maybe making the decision to play Dom (Szoboszlai) or someone else in that position (right-back) this is also to do with him not being completely fit.

“Although, he’s in the group tomorrow as he was on Saturday, but last week he wasn’t able to train every single time.”
