Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for The Pitt season 2, episode 8.With the cyberattack wreaking havoc on Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center, this week's episode of The Pitt finally brought Dr. Langdon and Dr. Santos together for a contentious reunion. PTMC shut down all its electronic systems at the end of The Pitt season 2, episode 7, and chaos ensued. Now, all the nurses and doctors are stuck using paper charts and orders, and things are only ramping up from here.
The newfound chaos of PTMC didn't stop The Pitt from introducing new developments for its doctors and new tragedies for its patients, however. By the end of this week's episode, Dr. Robby had made a confusing choice for one of his patients, Dr. Mohan had made a huge decision about her future, and Ogilvie had made a fool of himself once again.
Why Robby Is Giving Roxie More Morphine In The Pitt Season 2

The Pitt season 2, episode 8 ended with Dr. McKay and Javadi asking Robby for advice on how to deal with Roxie, the cancer patient, and her pain. As they explained, Roxie is already on quite a bit of morphine and oxycontin, and any more would risk killing her. Despite that, Robby told them to prescribe even more morphine. That decision, and Robby's justification for making it, was a bit confusing.
As Robby explained, he decided to give Roxie more morphine because of the double effect principle of palliative care. Essentially, Robby has decided to give Roxie end of life care. His main goal is treating her pain, not curing her or helping her live longer. If, in treating her pain, the medicine he prescribes ends up ending her life, then that's not just an acceptable risk, it may be the best outcome for her.
Roxie has terminal cancer. There is no curing her or saving her life. The only thing Robby and the other doctors at PTMC can do for her is make her death less painful. Roxie likely understands this on some level, as she doesn't want to die in her home. Robby has essentially read between the lines and decided that he's going to help Roxie die in the hospital with as little pain as possible.
Dr. King & Dr. Ellis Are Being Sued By The Mother Of A Measles Patient

The Pitt season 2, episode 8 also finally revealed why Dr. Mel King was named in a medical malpractice lawsuit. Mel has been worrying about this malpractice case all season long, and she's essentially been inconsolable about her upcoming deposition. Dr. Ellis was also named in the same malpractice case, and her impromptu "monolog" finally revealed what the basis of the case is.
Mel and Dr. Ellis are being sued by Hillary Edwards, the mother of Flynn, a teenager who was brought into PTMC for a measles infection at the end of The Pitt season 1. Hillary was a staunch anti-vaxxer who didn't want the doctors to perform a spinal tap on her son. Hillary's husband, Larry, eventually gave the doctors permission to perform the spinal tap and save Flynn's life.
Now, Hillary is suing because she believes the spinal tap Dr. King performed last season caused cognitive decline in Flynn. As Dr. Ellis explained, however, spinal taps don't cause cognitive decline, Mel performed it perfectly, and the measles he was being treated for are much more likely the culprit of any mental impairment. Essentially, Mel has been worrying about an open-and-shut malpractice case that she will almost certainly win.
Dr. Langdon Got Mixed Receptions From Dr. Santos & Dr. McKay
Langdon, Santos, and Javadi in The Pitt season 2, episode 8via HBO Max
Dr. Langdon and Dr. Santos also finally had their long-awaited reunion in The Pitt season 2, episode 8, and it was just as contentious and icy as we thought it would be. Viewers will remember that Langdon was especially harsh with Santos in The Pitt season 1, as she exposed his drug abuse to Robby. Since then, Santos has been avoiding him for seven hours now, but they were finally put on a tongue laceration together this week.
While treating a new patient in The Pitt season 2, Santos was dismissive of Langdon, kept shooting him dirty looks, and made a comment about rehab in general that seemed aimed at him. It was enough that even Joy noticed the tension between them. Santos' reaction may have been a bit extreme, but it wasn't unwarranted considering how Langdon treated her last season. His proper apology is still on the horizon, and it should make for another tense moment.

The Pitt Season 2: Why Dr. Robby Doesn't Want Langdon Working In The ER
The Pitt's Langdon and Robby finally had somewhat of a heart-to-heart, but it didn't go the way the returning doctor had surely hoped it would.
Posts By Casey DubyLuckily for Langdon, he got a very different reception from Dr. McKay. During a moment of downtime, McKay shared some of her experiences with rehab and recovery. She revealed in The Pitt season 1 that she's a recovering addict, and she told Langdon that if he ever needed any help in staying sober, he could talk to her. It was only a small moment, but it was a sweet gesture that clearly meant a lot to Langdon after a mostly bad first day back.
PTMC Treated An Overweight Patient & Ogilvie Embarrassed Himself Again
Mohan, Whitaker, Ogilvie, and Joy in The Pitt season 2, episode 7via MovieStillsDB
The main medical case The Pitt season 2, episode 8 focused on was Howard Knox, an overweight man who had abdominal pain and a fever. His symptoms required a CT scan to diagnose, but due to his weight, the doctors on the case had to make sure the machine would be able to scan him. After using a machine to learn he was over 450 pounds, Dr. Abbot decided to go to Presbyterian in the ambulance with Howard.

Throughout the entire case, Ogilvie tried his hardest to come off as grating. He made inappropriate jokes, constantly questioned Howard's lifestyle choices when they weren't relevant, and even suggested they take him to the zoo. Ogilvie is trying very hard to be the most hated character on The Pitt, and he's largely succeeding.
Dr. Mohan May Be Staying In Pittsburgh After The Pitt Season 2
Dr. Mohan in The Pitt season 2, episode 8
The last big development of The Pitt season 2, episode 8 concerned Dr. Mohan. Earlier this season, Mohan said she planned on taking a fellowship in New Jersey to take care of her mother. Now, her mother has reportedly sold her house and intends to go on a cruise with her new boyfriend. Mohan no longer has a reason to move to New Jersey, so there's a chance she stays at PTMC for The Pitt season 3.

Mohan told Dr. Al-Hashimi about this plan and asked for some guidance about what fellowship she should pursue. After some discussion, Al-Hashimi suggested Mohan go into geriatrics, especially considering how well she works with elderly patients. If that's the case, while it would keep Mohan in Pittsburgh after The Pitt season 2, we would likely see a lot less of her as she wouldn't be in the emergency room anymore.
