Sheridan is effectively keeping the streaming platform afloat with his blockbuster shows, even though Paramount+ has a sprawling Star Trek franchise to fall back on. Sheridan's ascent began with Yellowstone, which, over five seasons, became not only his longest-running show but also one of the decade's largest small-screen projects. And now, another show created by Sheridan is about to match Yellowstone to become his most enduring hit. The show in question recently hit a major milestone on the domestic streaming charts, shortly after returning with its fourth season.
According to FlixPatrol, the show has spent over 100 days on the domestic Paramount+ charts via Amazon channels. It joins Yellowstone and other Sheridan favorites, such as Tulsa King and the more recent Landman. The only Sheridan-related shows that haven't charted as consistently are the two Yellowstone spin-offs — 1883 and 1923 — and the star-studded espionage thriller Lioness. Sheridan's would-be anthology series that began with Lawmen: Bass Reeves also seems to be in limbo. However, he can take pride in the sustained success of his second-longest-running show, which also seems to be improving in terms of quality with each passing season.
Here's the Taylor Sheridan Show that Has Hit a Major Streaming Milestone
The show in question is Mayor of Kingstown, starring Jeremy Renner. It premiered in 2021 and quickly became one of the more poorly reviewed projects that Sheridan had ever been associated with — remember, he was coming off the critically acclaimed movies Sicario and Hell or High Water. The show's first season is still sitting at a 33% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, although there has been a consistent improvement over the years. The second season holds a 50% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the third season holds a 78% score, and the fourth season is sitting at a perfect 100%. In his review, Collider's Jeff Ewing described the fourth season as the show's "best one yet." The crime thriller has been renewed for a fifth and final season, which would tie it with Yellowstone as Sheridan's longest-running show.
