After a new reveal, it's well within the realm of possibility that a certain Spider-Man villain team beats the Sinister Six to the MCU.

The Sinister Six is arguably the most iconic supervillain team in Marvel Comics. Despite that, as well as the fact that their greatest enemy has headlined a multitude of theatrical films, they've still yet to make a live-action appearance. There's been discussions about the group eventually forming and building blocks for them to appear, but nothing has ever materialized from it.

In the case of the MCU, the introduction of the Sinister Six certainly feels like it could be a goalpost for Spider-Man's story in the MCU, especially since it's long been characterized as the ultimate Spider-Man villain team-up. But based on details regarding Spider-Man: Brand New Day, a different squad of Spider-Man villains may make it to the MCU first.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day May Introduce The Sinister Syndicate

Sinister Syndicate in Marvel Comics

The Sinister Six isn't the only major villain team known for fighting Spider-Man. There's also the Sinister Syndicate, which is distinguished from the Sinister Six in three different ways. Firstly, they're not limited by any set number of members, nor are they defined by a specific goal.

Their escapades generally put them at odds with Spider-Man, defeating him isn't the end-all-be-all of the team. After all, their main concern is just making money; Spider-Man simply gets in the way of that.

Finally, there's the matter of the team's composition; whereas the Sinister Six is composed of the most famous members of his rogues' gallery, the Sinister Syndicate is made up of mostly second-tier villains, like Beetle, Speed Demon, Shocker, Hydro-Man, and Boomerang. Curiously, the latter of these will appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, as confirmed by new artwork.

Boomerang, a founding member of the team and one of the most important characters associated with it, will be joined in Brand New Day by two other longtime Spider-Man adversaries, Tarantula and Scorpion.

Neither have ties to the Sinister Syndicate, but both fit its modus operandi perfectly. Like Boomerang, they have long histories of mercenary work, and are commonly depicted as hired muscle and criminals looking to make easy money. With all three appearing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it's worth wondering if they'll be on the same side - as a team.

If that's the case, it's not hard to imagine Boomerang, Tarantula, Scorpion functioning as the MCU's very own Sinister Syndicate in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. If that happens, the film could also be hiding one or two other villains with mercenary backgrounds, such as The Big Wheel and Beetle, to fill out the team's roster.
