Austen is widely regarded for her enduring, witty, and genre-defining love stories, such as Pride and Prejudice, which has been adapted multiple times for bothsmall and large screens over the years. While that may be her most popular work, thanks to Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy’s compelling romance, several others also deserve as much attention, including her unfinished 1817 novel that was adapted into a three-part series.
Titled Sanditon, the British series ran from August 25, 2019, to April 24, 2023, on ITV in the U.K. In the U.S., on the other hand, it premiered on January 12, 2020, on PBS, followed by Season 2 on March 20, 2022, and Season 3 on March 19, 2023. In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, the Austen favorite is getting some extra love thanks to PBS, as it has been confirmed that it will be way easier to stream in the U.S.
Starting on Valentine’s Day, all three seasons of Sanditon will be available to stream free on PBS.org and the PBS app for a full month, ending on March 14, 2026. The historical drama joins a boatload of Austen adaptations that have become easier to stream this season of love. Sanditon was adapted by Emmy and BAFTA award-winning screenwriter Andrew Davies from Austen’s novel, originally called The Brothers, written only months before her death. It follows Charlotte Heywood as she moves to the quiet fishing village of Sanditon for a fresh start, only to meet Sidney Parker, a charming man who has ambitions to turn the tranquil seaside residence into a luxury resort.
