Peyton Watson has recently emerged as the breakout star that few expected at this stage of the 2025-26 season.

The UCLA product has benefited from the Denver Nuggets’ injury-plagued campaign, as he’s received an expanded opportunity to flaunt his two-way capabilities on the hardwood. Watson is averaging 15.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.0 steals with the Nuggets this season, shooting 50.1% from the field and 35.3% from three-point land.

Unfortunately, Watson suffered a lower-body setback against the New York Knicks on Saturday night, which could affect his availability moving forward.

“Really bad news for the Nuggets, as Peyton Watson is heading straight to the locker room, grabbing his right hamstring with a severe limp,” ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel reported on X/Twitter.

“The Nuggets, who have been without Nikola Jokic, Aaron Gordon, Christian Braun, and Cam Johnson all for extended periods of time this year, now look like they’ll be without Watson. It seemed like Watson knew something was wrong right away, immediately fouling to leave the floor.”

Non-contact injuries are never good, especially when they occur in the hamstring area. Watson was cutting to the rim in an attempt to make himself available to Jokic when his hamstring appeared to give out on him.

Watson's timeline from injury is unclear, but it didn’t look good, as he was unable to remain in the contest.
