Alabama entered the Players Era Festival hoping to build off recent momentum, but instead walked away with a disappointing 95-85 loss to No. 12 Gonzaga, a defeat that revealed clear areas the Crimson Tide must address before SEC play begins.
While Alabama showed flashes of its offensive firepower, its recurring issues on the glass and in maintaining rhythm ultimately cost them against a disciplined, physical Gonzaga squad.

Gonzaga dominated the boards, out rebounding Alabama 48-36, consistently earning second chance opportunities and limiting Alabama to one shot on crucial possessions.
This continues a troubling trend, when Alabama loses the rebounding battle, they typically struggle, and tonight night was no exception.
Simply put, they have to rebound better.
This team wins when it controls the glass, sets the tempo, and forces opponents to play at their pace.
Offensively, Alabama never fully found its rhythm. The Tide shot 46% from the field and just 9-of-29 from three, a drop off from their usual perimeter efficiency. Turnovers also proved costly, with Alabama committing 13 giveaways, many of which halted momentum or led directly to Gonzaga points in transition.

Aden Holloway added 13 points, while Aiden Sherrell and Amari Allen each contributed 14, giving Alabama four double digit scorers.
But the offensive numbers weren’t enough.
Gonzaga is a well-coached, veteran team that was always going to be tough to beat, and they exposed Alabama’s weaknesses. The Tide must tighten up defensively, rebound with more urgency, and control the tempo to reach their full potential.

They are still capable of being one of the nation’s best. But with SEC play fast approaching, the message is clear: improvement must happen now, especially on the boards, if the Tide want to compete for championships.
The Crimson Tide will face the UNLV Runnin' Rebels at 11PM CT.
