MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – Midland High Bulldog Pulelei’ite Primus made it official Wednesday afternoon, signing his letter of intent with Vanderbilt University. Primus leaves the Bulldogs as a three-year starter and one-time captain. With offers from Texas Tech, Houston, Miami, and Stanford, among others, Primus ultimately chose Vanderbilt due to the relationship he built with the coaching staff.

“They’ve been on it. When they first offered me, they would text me every single time they want to call with me.” Primus said. “Not a lot of coaches want to do that. They would take time to do that when they didn’t have to. Just the vibe over there is amazing.”

His mother, Christina Brown, is his number one supporter, being there every step of the way. From taking him to camps every summer to the games themselves, she calls it a good journey and knows this was in him.

After losing his father at the age of four, Primus has been following in his father’s footsteps. His dad, Stanley “Primo” Primus, played at the Division 1 level at Temple University. As a way to honor his father, his goal is to make it to the National Football League as a professional.

In his final message to Bulldog nation, Primus had this to say:

“Thank y’all so much for taking me in my sophomore year. Y’all didn’t have to, but y’all did. And it was amazing to be able to play for y’all these last four years. It was a blessing, and I will never forget y’all. I’m always going to be a 432 kid, and that’s just how it’s always going to be.”
