Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Let’s start the night off by taking a look back over the three biggest stories of Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025.

  1. Colby Covington vs. Luke Rockhold main event booked for Jan. 10 in Sunrise: I’m actually very intrigued by this wrestling match. Covington is the far better wrestler on paper, but Rockhold is an amazing counter wrestler with a big size advantage. Good matchmaking!

  2. Fan favorite Tai Tuivasa returns against Brazilian knockout artist at UFC 325: I hope Tai Tuivasa can get his career back on track, because Heavyweight is more fun when he’s winning fights at least occasionally.

  3. Terence Crawford stripped of WBC title he won from Canelo Alvarez: Boxing orgs really seem to love stripping their best champions and biggest stars.

Insomnia

Paddy Pimblett isn’t the first fighter to take part in one of these charity matches, but it’s a class move.

The return of Jacob Malkoun! The under-the-radar Aussie could easily be riding a six-fight win streak right now if you take a closer look at his recent fights.

Bogdan Guskov talks about his difficult upbringing ahead of UFC 323:

Given Henry Cejudo’s credentials and ego, this edit is probably pretty close to what was happening in the mind of “Triple C.”

Little ground strikes go a long way in breaking opponents.

Sean Strickland did his best!

Joshua Van could earn a place in UFC history this weekend. Win or lose, he’s set up for a long and fruitful Flyweight career.

Slips, rips, and KO clips

I love old fight clips. Bob Sapp was trying to reap the knee to escape bottom position 21 years ago? And it backfired brutally? Nothing has changed, not really. Also, “the guard” is the most appropriately named position in combat sports. Sapp suffered miserably as soon as Fujita got by his legs.

More classic combat!

A lot of MMA retirements end in face plants but not like this!

Random Land

Brevity is the soul of wit.

Midnight Music: We have arrived in the season of “Best of 2025” lists, so expect an uptick in recent releases as I look through all the tracks I missed on arrival (a percentage that grows each year as I become more and more out of touch with the youth).

Sleep well Maniacs! More martial arts madness is always on the way.
