New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson has won over the hearts of many in the city since his arrival three years ago. So much so, that he even earned some votes to be the mayor of New York City.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementIn the heavily publicized New York City mayor race, Brunson received 27 write-in votes from New Yorkers to run the city, per Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News. Brunson led the way amongst New York sports figures, with New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge’s 11 votes coming in second.
Among other athletes to receive votes include New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo, Yankees pitcher Cam Schlittler, former Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau, Knicks legend Walt Frazier, former Knick Carmelo Anthony, and Brunson’s current teammate Josh Hart.
Brunson has become one of the league’s top talents since arriving in New York. His rise from a decent backup guard to the best player on a contending team make him one of New York’s best success stories.
Since Brunson’s arrival to the Knicks in 2022, he has helped take the Knicks from a playoff team, to one that can truly contend for the NBA championship. Brunson has been named an All-Star and All-NBA in each of the last two seasons, and was key to the Knicks’ run to the Eastern Conference Finals last season.
