Paulina Rubio mortgage eviction

The news that Paulina Rubio had been evicted from her Miami Beach home for failing to pay her mortgage spread like wildfire through the Spanish-language entertainment press. However, an investigation by The Latin Times and ENSTARZ revealed that not only does La Chica Dorada not own any property in the Miami area, but that exactly one month ago today, December 3rd, she paid off her debt.

To begin with, Rubio doesn't own any property in Miami-Dade County, so it would be impossible for her to be evicted for failing to pay a mortgage. The house she occupied for years in Miami Beach was never hers. The mansion that many of us saw in the live streams the artist did during the pandemic belonged to her first ex-husband, the Spanish architect Ricardo Bonfill.

The house was sold, and Rubio and her children moved to another house they rented in the same area. It was a beautiful home overlooking Biscayne Bay, with a monthly rent of $35,000. While exorbitant, the amount would have been easy to pay during the golden age of "La Chica Dorada" (The Golden Girl). In those days, music itself was profitable. Touring was a way to promote the music.

Today, things have changed. Few artists can say they live solely off their streaming revenue. That's why some tour constantly, and if they're not performing solo, they're collaborating with other artists or even playing at festival after festival.

Another way for those who make a living from music to earn money is through product sponsorships or advertising campaigns. Although Paulina Rubio is a household name, she hasn't been the face of any brand for a long time, and with so many negative headlines lately, getting a company to pay her what she deserves wouldn't seem like an easy task.

In other words, there is no clear high flow of money.

What is the truth about the eviction?

Two months ago, the Spanish press revealed that a lawsuit had been filed against the artist in Miami courts regarding the house she was renting. According to legal documents, the owners were demanding $110,000 from Rubio for a combination of two months' back rent, 15 extra days she allegedly stayed on the property after the lease had expired (for which she was charged double), plus damages.

Paulina Rubio and her family vacated the property in April 2025, and according to Miami-Dade County public records, the matter was settled in a private and confidential agreement today, November 3. This means there are no further legal claims from "La Chica Dorada" regarding housing issues.

The big question now is where Paulina and her children are living.
