The Toronto Blue Jays are now navigating their way through the offseason after losing Game 7 of the World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Blowing a 3-2 lead against the reigning champions is going to haunt them. However, they now turn their eyes to free agency. One name specifically is Bo Bichette, who has driven up his market.

“Can confirm Bo Bichette has received interest from multiple teams who view him as a second baseman or third baseman, due to the presence of an established shortstop on those rosters. Further evidence that the World Series augmented his value in the marketplace,” MLB insider Jon Morosi posted.

Bichette didn’t play in the playoffs except for the World Series, and even after a long layoff, his bat was still there. He had a great showing in his first World Series appearance, one that made a lasting impact. For that reason, he is expected to get a nice contract with whomever he signs.

“The key question facing Bichette's free agency is how teams will view him positionally. If a club is willing to stomach his shortstop defense, then the comparison to Willy Adames' agreement with the Giants (seven years, $182 million) is a good reference point. I'm going to assume that will be the case, at least in the short term. I'll add in some extra coin because of Bichette's age advantage and inflation. Seven years, $189 million ($27 million AAV),” CBS Sports’ RJ Anderson wrote.

NorthJersey.com’s Pete Caldera believes Bichette would be the perfect replacement for Alex Bregman if he doesn’t re-sign in Boston.

“If Alex Bregman signs elsewhere, could see Bichette moving to third base at Fenway Park,” Caldera wrote.

The Blue Jays aren’t going to let Bichette go easily, but the Red Sox are likely to be all in for a Bregman replacement if needed. Bichette at third base for the Red Sox would work—and the Green Monster could become his new best friend.

Losing Bichette to a rival would be heartbreaking for the Blue Jays, but life goes on. Bichette will likely stay in Toronto if they are serious about bringing him back. Of course, Boston could always try to throw all the money at him.
