Verona are rock bottom of the Serie A table, but as with almost every year, smart investments are providing a return, as Rafik Belghali is already worth 10 times what was paid.

The attention has been on Giovane, who was signed as a free agent over the summer, but he is not the only player who will provide a healthy profit for Hellas.

Verona found another gem in Belghali

The first part of the season has seen impressive performances from Belghali, the Algerian right-back with a Belgian passport, secured from Mechelen over the summer to replace Jackson Tchatchoua.

He cost circa €1.5m plus add-ons, and already his value on the transfer market is 10 times higher than that.

Belghali has shown great character, good technique, and above all has further margin for improvement.

Last Saturday, his first goal away to Genoa did not prove sufficient to bring a positive result, but it did confirm his quality and consistent performances.

Several clubs have already set their sights on him, not just within Italy, and Verona hope he can help them make up lost ground in the table.
