2026 DB Chris Hewitt Jr. has decided to decommit from Rutgers and commit to Georgia Tech. He originally committed to the Scarlet Knights back in January, off of an unofficial visit. He took his official visit to Rutgers back in June. He is rated as a high three-star by both Rivals and 247sports.
Both Rutgers and Georgia Tech offered Hewitt early on in the recruiting process. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound high school safety never actually took an official visit to Georgia Tech, according to 247sports’ timeline, but he nonetheless decided that his place was in Atlanta regardless.

The interesting thing with his decommitment is that he has very strong ties to Rutgers. Both his father and his uncle spent time as assistants under Greg Schiano, so his family is very familiar with the program.
