Radiant Cornerstones are an important type of item in Octopath Traveler 0, as they allow you to upgrade the facilities you have already installed in Wishvale, the town you are restoring. At the start of the game, three villains assemble to burn down your hometown, Wishvale, and you and Stia set off on a mission to rebuild it. This is one of the new features present in Octopath Traveler 0, which wasn’t present in previous core entries.

This is one of the game’s pillars, as you’ll juggle a main story arc led by confrontation against villains, while also taking a more chill approach as you restore the town. In Screen Rant’s review of Octopath Traveler 0, we praise the new life-sim module, though we highlight its often simplistic and superficial take on villagers.

Elite Enemies Can Prove To Be Tough Challenges

Radiant Cornerstones can only truly be acquired in one way in the game. To obtain these items, you’ll need to face Elite Enemies, which are scattered across various maps in Orsterra. These Elite Enemies are not those that appear through random encounters. Instead, they are set in fixed locations across various maps and have their sprites appear on the map, often guarding a Red Treasure Chest, for example.

Upon approaching their radius, they will roar, and a symbol will appear next to them, informing you of what type of encounter you should expect. Blue symbols represent Weak Elite Enemies, which you should defeat quite easily. Yellow symbols highlight Moderate encounters, which are a bit more difficult, but still very bearable. Red symbols highlight Strong Elite Enemies, which will likely push your party combination in Octopath Traveler 0 to the limit.

Defeating them will always grant you at least one Radiant Cornerstone, as well as access to whatever part of the map that was previously blocked by their presence. Elite Enemies don’t tend to be as strong as big bosses like Tytos, Herminia, or Auguste, but they can wipe your team if you go in ill-prepared, which may be the case after a series of random encounters leading up to their location, so be sure to carry some items with you.

Use Radiant Cornerstones To Upgrade Facilities In Wishvale

With enough Radiant Cornerstones, you can upgrade compatible facilities you have installed in Wishvale. Each of these facilities has three distinct levels, and when you install them, they are at level 1. You’ll need multiple Radiant Cornerstones to upgrade them to level 2, and then more of the item to upgrade them to level 3. Considering the number of facilities, you’ll have to farm Radiant Cornerstones as you progress through the game and unlock more maps.

Each level you upgrade with Radiant Cornerstones gives you access to more features in Wishvale. For example, if you upgrade the Ranch, you’ll be able to stable more animals, which, in turn, gives you more resources from them. You shouldn’t see this as an urgent task in the slightest, as not upgrading facilities won’t necessarily halt your progress, so farm Radiant Cornerstones as you go, and every so often return to Wishvale to upgrade your facilities in Octopath Traveler 0.
