The battle of the Baileys is heating up (Picture: Getty)
Alongside other Christmas staples like turkeys and sprouts, each year, UK supermarkets compete to offer the cheapest Baileys.
Dubbed the ‘battle of the Baileys’, it allows shoppers to snag a 1L bottle for far less than its £22 RRP, with discounts currently reaching over 45%.
In the latest edition of his newsletter, Martin Lewis revealed retailers have now surpassed the £11 ‘price floor’ expected by Money Saving Expert (MSE) this festive season.
The consumer finance site has been tracking Baileys prices since November, and this was the best deal they’d seen until a few days ago, when the price wars really ramped up.
Now, a litre of the seasonal favourite comes in at a tenner or less in Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Costco, Asda and Amazon.
You need to sign up for a membership or loyalty card to access some of these offers, which are available for a limited time or until stocks last.
The cheapest Baileys deals
Prices apply to a 1L bottles of Baileys Original Irish Cream liqueur.
- Asda: £10 online and in stores (£11.05 in Scotland). Deal expires on Monday 8 December.
- Tesco: £10 for Clubcard holders online and in stores (£11.05 in Scotland). Deal expires on Monday 8 December.
- Sainsbury’s: £10 for Nectar members online and in stores (£11.05 in Scotland). Deal expires on Saturday 6 December.
- Costco: £9.99 online for members (price may differ in stores). Deal expires on Monday 8 December, or while stock lasts.
- Amazon: £10 with free delivery for Prime members.
It’s also possible prices may drop further, albeit likely not by much.
According to MSE, ‘there’s always a chance’ you could get a better deal closer to Christmas, as last year the Morrisons reduced bottles to £8.50 for More Card members who spent £45 or more on groceries.

Now, Morrisons has put the price back up to £14, on par with Ocado, while Waitrose is selling a smaller, 700ml bottle of the liqueur for £14.

As one of the nation’s favourite festive tipples, shoppers are keen to stock up while it’s on sale. In fact, such is the demand, Asda reportedly had to impose a three-bottle limit during its last promotion.
Customers were restricted from buying more than three litres of Baileys at the supermarket between November 27 and November 30, with staff enforcing the cap to ensure the shelves weren’t cleared.
Ahead of party season, fans of the drink – and its off-brand alternatives – have also been warned to be careful of how they dispose of any leftovers.

A spokesperson from MyBuilder.com said: ‘Cream liqueurs, such as the popular Christmas favourite Baileys, can be a problem for your plumbing.’
Because they don’t keep for long, these beverages are often tipped down the sink – which isn’t advisable due a high fat content that means they fall into the category of FOG (fats, oils and greases).
‘FOG should never go down the sink, as it sticks to pipes and can cause blockages,’ the spokesperson added. ‘It’s also responsible for “fatbergs” in our sewers.’
Instead, you’re advised to seal it in a container and put into the general waste bin for collection.
