After giving his verbal commitment nearly two years ago, Efrem “EJ” White has signed with the Seminoles.

White is a 6-foot-2, 160-pound athlete who plays for Vero Beach. He was at times a one-man show for his high school as a dual-threat quarterback. In total, White racked up 3,228 yards on offense to go with 48 total touchdowns. He passed for 2,225 yards on a 74.3% completion rate with 27 touchdowns to seven interceptions. He ran for another 916 yards on 127 carries (7.2 average) with 21 rushing touchdowns. He even caught four passes for 87 yards. He previously played some quarterback as a freshman but was pressed into full-time duty this fall.

Florida State likes White as a wide receiver at the next level, though he will need to add some serious bulk to his lithe frame to handle the physicality in college. He is deceptive with the ball in his hands and has very good speed. He’s likely more of a deep ball specialist until he’s able to bulk up and could be a factor in the return game.

Florida State held off a significant push by North Carolina State as well as interest from Notre Dame, Louisville, and Georgia Tech, among others, to secure White.
