BDO UK has reported annual revenue of £1bn ($1.3bn) for the year ending 4 July 2025, which remain unchanged from the previous year.

While challenges persisted due to global political and economic factors, the organisation-maintained investment in staff development, technology upgrades, and infrastructure to support its operations.

The company’s operating profit for the period was down by 7.5% to £210m, while profit per equity partner decreased to £589k from £681k in the previous year.

The firm’s key areas including audit, tax, deals and consulting, risk & outsourcing (CR&O) reported varied results.

Revenue in Tax increased by 3.4%, and CR&O rose by 5.4%.

In contrast, Audit revenue fell by 3.7%, and Deals declined by 4%.

The organisation stated that growth in regional offices is expected to surpass London over the next few years.

BDO UK recruited 690 trainees during the financial year, compared with 675 a year earlier, through various entry schemes including apprenticeships and graduate placements.

The accountancy firm promoted 2,440 staff across all location, which includes 36 partners, bringing the total partner count to 501.

Investment in technology continued, including in new digital tools aimed at improving quality and consistency of work. There was also focus on AI applications and developing services related to sustainability assurance and digital risk management.

Relocations to new offices took place in Manchester, Guildford, and Edinburgh this year. Refurbishments were completed in Leeds, Birmingham and Southampton.

A transition to a new headquarters in central London is scheduled for completion by late 2027.

BDO UK managing partner Mark Shaw said: "The last year has confirmed to me the power of people coming together to navigate an ever-changing landscape.

"The well-documented economic headwinds across the UK have resulted in a challenging year for the profession as a whole. Growth rates have slowed and profitability has come under pressure. However, with targeted long-term investments, responsible commercial management and the resilience of our people and the businesses we work with, we have continued to deliver a robust performance.

Recently, BDO UK announced a merger with BDO Ireland with the combined entity expected to reach revenues near £1.1bn and have about 8,500 employees.

Commenting on the merger, Shaw added: "Looking ahead, I see a business that is in the right place to unlock opportunities for our market heartland.

"Our merger with BDO Ireland cements our position as one of Europe's largest accountancy firms focused on entrepreneurial, growing and ambitious clients.”
