As excitement builds for the upcoming third season of Jujutsu Kaisen, some fans have started to rewatch the two previous seasons and have uncovered a hidden surprise in one of the backgrounds. As a series known for its epic battles and carefully choreographed animation, it’s no wonder that viewers missed the subtle Easter egg tucked into the series.

It stands out as an unexpected little nod to another one of MAPPA’s hit productions, Chainsaw Man, which recently captured worldwide attention with its hit film, Reze Arc. The series is known for its distinctive visuals, crude humor, and fan-favorite, relatable characters, making the subtle nod all the more thrilling for audiences.

Fans Missed Pochita’s Little Easter Egg in Jujutsu Kaisen for Years

Pochita is the Chainsaw Devil at the heart of Chainsaw Man, whose role at the beginning of the story is serving as a close companion to the series's protagonist, Denji, then later becoming his heart after a fatal attack by the Zombie Devil. This turns Denji into the first human-devil hybrid, granting him the power of the Chainsaw Devil.

However, once he’s spotted, it adds a layer of charm and appreciation for MAPPA’s production team's creative Easter egg.

Though Pochita’s appearances in Chainsaw Man are short, often seen only in flashbacks and dreams as Denji’s pet devil, he plays a significant role in the story. When not in his full form, Pochita appears as a cute, small orange creature that has quickly become a fan-favorite, making any of his appearances a worthwhile moment for many.

When he appears in the background of Jujutsu Kaisen, it's only for a fleeting moment in the background of a high-stakes battle, making the cameo nearly invisible to casual viewers. However, once he’s spotted, it adds a layer of charm and appreciation for MAPPA’s production team's creative Easter egg.

Pochita Hides In The Background of Sukuna’s Battle

Pochita’s Easter egg hides in Season 2, Episode 17 of Jujutsu Kaisen, titled “Thunderclap, Part 2.” The brief moment takes place during Sukuna’s climactic battle against Mahoraga, where Pochita can be found in the background behind Sukuna when one of the buildings is destroyed, above his left shoulder.

It's an easy cameo to miss, with Pochita blending into the background and only visible for a short moment. However, once it’s seen, fans instantly recognize the small body, round eyes, and adorable smile. The discovery may come two years after Jujutsu Kaisen’s Season 2 release, but that only proves fans' interest is reigniting ahead of Season 3.

It shows MAPPA’s attention to detail and strengthens the studio’s connection with fans by leaving a tiny yet memorable nod from another popular series. By shortly showing Pochita in the background of Sukuna’s battle, the studio offers Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen fans a more involved experience and deeper engagement with the work, allowing the fandoms to uniquely come together.
