Israeli extreme sports enthusiast Sergey Shipitsin was killed in a gliding crash in Switzerland, N12 News reported on Tuesday.

He had been hiking in the Lauterbrunnen Valley in Switzerland for the past few weeks when his friends and family suddenly lost contact with him. His loved ones reported him missing to Swiss authorities, and his body was later found in the gliding area.

Shipitsin, known as “Jumping Buddha” online, had amassed over 4,000 followers on Instagram. He was known for posting daring parkour and extreme sports videos.
He sparked controversy in 2023 in his hometown of Ashdod when he posted a video of himself jumping from a tall building in the city. At that time, he said that he “does it for fun.”

Shipitsin’s body was transported back to Israel and he will be buried in Sderot, where he had moved within the past few years.
