Tom Hardy’s gritty crime thriller series continues to dominate its streaming competition ahead of the arrival of its newest season. Earlier this year, Hardy teamed up with Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren for MobLand, the show that follows a fixer caught in the middle of two warring organized crime families. MobLand was renewed for a second season, and with production set to begin on Season 2 any day now, the show is back in the Paramount+ top 10 globally. With its continued streaming success, it’s hard not to think Season 2 has a chance to be even bigger than Season 1.
MobLand was written and created for TV by Ronan Bennett, with Guy Ritchie serving as a prominent director and producer on the show. It’s been reported that he was heavily involved in the show’s creative direction. It didn’t take MobLand long upon its premiere to draw comparisons to Tulsa King, another gritty crime thriller show from Taylor Sheridan, which is also on Paramount+. While the premise of the two is different, fans of one will most likely also be fans of the other.
It’s been a big year for Tom Hardy, even more so if you extend that year back into the final months of 2024. Hardy played Eddie Brock for what may be the final time in Venom: The Last Dance, another action hit that has also become a major streaming success on Netflix in the months since its debut. Before MobLand arrives on Paramount+, though, Hardy starred in the critically panned Netflix original action movie, Havoc, which topped streaming charts for months despite a lackluster reception. He’s also got a few exciting projects in the works, but none of them have firm release dates.
When Does MobLand Season 2 Come Out?
MobLand Season 2 does not have an official release date, but the show is expected to return before the end of next year. Joanne Froggatt confirmed that production on Season 2 was scheduled to begin at the end of October, and while there is no indication that the production team was able to adhere to this schedule, it’s still a good sign that things are moving this quickly. If MobLand wraps filming before 2026 is halfway over, it’s entirely possible the show could land a release date around this time next year.
Stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of MobLand Season 2, and watch the first season on Paramount+.
