BYU is one spot ahead of Miami and a spot behind 10-2 Notre Dame. BYU is one of five Big 12 teams ranked along with Texas Tech (4), Utah (15), Arizona (18), and Houston (21). BYU’s ranking means they would remain the first team out of the playoff if the season ended today. BYU in all likelihood will need to be Texas Tech on Saturday if they want to get in the College Football Playoff.
A BYU win over Texas Tech would also ensure the Big 12 would get two bids. If BYU were to win and jump up to #8, they would get a first round home playoff game in LES.
According to FanDuel odds, BYU has +390 odds to make the CFP and -550 odds to miss it, meaning oddsmakers have BYU more likely to miss the playoff.
